It’s extremely difficult to delete a picture posted by an Internet user, unless it violates Google’s guidelines. Those appear on Google’s Help Center under “Prohibited and Restricted Content” and “Format Specific Criteria”.

List of prohibited and restricted content: “Spam and fake content, Off-topic, Restricted content, Illegal content, Terrorist content, Sexually explicit content, Offensive content, Dangerous &,, Derogatory Content, Impersonation, Conflict of Interest”.

  • To be relevant, photos or videos must be taken by users at the specific location: image base are not relevant and can therefore be deleted (it does not mean they will be deleted)

  • Editing the picture by adding filters is permitted if they are minimal: don’t add text, montage, or borders.

  • Any content that prevents the environment from being properly viewed can be refused: too dark, too blurry, too pronounced rotations or filters.

  • The image resolution must be sufficient (there are different requirements according to the kind of picture and its origin)

  • Do not import screenshots, drawings, posters or any other non-photographic content (excluding videos).

How to signal a picture to Google My Business?

To report a picture to Google, select it, click on the flag 🚩 on the upper right corner and then select the reason why you wish to delete it.

After this process, what will determine whether the picture will be deleted or not relies on:

  • The extent to which it goes against the previously mentioned guidelines

  • The number of time it was reported

  • The level of the Local Guides reporting it

How can Partoo help me keep the upper hand on the picture promoting my establishment?

At Partoo, we devote time and energy so that all our employees are perceived as reliable users by Google via the Local Guides system.

We incite them to interact as much as they can with Google My Business by leaving reviews for each place they visited, to report duplicates, bad-quality pictures and so on.

Each Partoo employee reaching level 6 is rewarded with a pair of Partoo socks !

Thus, 80% of our employees reached level 6 of the Local Guide system. In that sense, when a picture or other inappropriate content is reported to us, it only takes a few hours for us to delete it
