What is Competitive Intelligence?

Understand your competitors’ reviews and identify their weaknesses to stand out.

Written by Pauline Brizard

Competitive Intelligence is an advanced competitive analysis tool that helps you understand your position in the market, beyond your own performance alone.

It combines 3 key dimensions:

  • 📊 E-reputation: ratings, reviews and response rates for your brand and your competitors

  • 💬 Competitor review analysis: understanding your competitors’ strengths and weaknesses through semantic analysis of their Google reviews

  • 🔎 Local visibility (SEO): comparing your Google ranking with your competitors’ on strategic keywords

👉 Goal: understand your position in the market and the factors behind it.

1. Compare your performance with your competitors’

Analyse your position in the market through key indicators:

  • average rating and review volume

  • response rate

  • SEO visibility on strategic keywords

👉 These indicators become much more meaningful when compared with your local and national competitors.

2. Understand your competitors’ customer experience

Competitor review analysis is based on the tags you have defined (e.g. price, welcome, service, quality).

👉 In practice:

  • competitor reviews are analysed according to your business criteria

  • you identify major market trends

  • you understand how each competitor is perceived

3. A market + competitor view

You can access two levels of analysis:

  • an overall market view: common strengths and weaknesses observed

  • a competitor-level analysis: a detailed view of each player

👉 This helps you clearly identify gaps in perception between your brand and your competitors.

4. Global and local analysis

Competitive Intelligence is available:

  • at global level (organisation or group of businesses)

  • at local level (business)

👉 You can manage your strategy at scale while keeping a clear view of what is happening on the ground.

Conclusion

Competitive Intelligence helps you understand your real position in the market and identify the areas where you can improve against your competitors.

👉 You now know:

  • where you are ahead

  • where you are losing customers

  • which topics to prioritise (price, service quality, welcome, etc.)

You no longer simply observe the competition, you know how to take concrete action.
